The concept of time flying as we get older is really starting to ring true these last few years. Midweek I accompanied my daughter to Melbourne so she could officially check-in to on-campus life. It wasn’t dramatic, well maybe trying to find our way into the building was, but after that, just normal. A bed, a desk, some shelves, a practical space without personality but with a quick make of the bed we changed that. Driving around her new suburb, she was confident and unbothered by the traffic. I on the other hand sat with butterflies in my tummy. Driving in the city has always been uncomfortable for me, but she is going to be fine! Driving home, I realised something that’s been building for a while. We’re transitioning to a full-time Uni student. And a family of three at home. There’s pride in that. And a quiet pause too. The week itself flew. Work was steady. I refreshed my hair on Friday. Saturday I rested properly for once. Today is planning day, meals written down, groceries sorted, everyone clear on what’s ahead. And somewhere between all that, the house felt a little different. Not sad. Just changing.
