Oh my Pelvic Floor!
Liptember 2024 - Day 7
If you're a Mum, you'll know all about your Pelvic Floor. I was so diligent after having my first baby, doing all those exercises. I had the little step to raise my knees above my hips, and I did those exercises daily. It became my routine as well as drinking enough water to ensure I had a milk supply. But alas I got lazy when I had my second baby. There was so much to do with a newborn and a toddler and my time wasn't as much my own as it had been first time round.
The 2024 Liptember Foundations research has revealed that 42% of women who have pelvic floor disorders also experience body image issues. When you think about it, its so connected. Developing good habits, doing your exercises, drinking enough water, being social, being kind to yourself, looking after yourself better. I wonder what percentage of that 42% are Mum's?
What if making sure are pelvic floors are looked after, would actually make us love our bodies and what they have achieved more? Lets hope that Liptember can continue to carry out its research and for now, I'm going to get back into the habit of looking after my pelvic floor. Does anyone have a step?
