Forget the superstitions, have a Kit Kat.
Liptember 2024 - Day 13
The only superstition I have on Fridays is wearing a red lip. But do I wear it EVERY Friday? I'd be lying if I said I did, because even though a red lip makes me feel incredible, there are days when I just don't feel it. So why do we always have to be so hard on ourselves? As my husband walked through the door this afternoon, he looked exhausted from several busy weeks at work. He handed over a Kit Kat & I thought, perfect, it's red & matches my theme for the day.
In reality, I thought, we all need a Kit Kat break. We all need a moment with no commitments, no interruptions, no pleasing anyone else, just a moment to collect our thoughts & decide what the next steps in our day will be. Life is so hectic. People are overworked & we are inherently people pleasers who put others first instead of ourselves (my generation at least).
In the research undertaken by Liptember, they found that the top 3 mental health issues affecting Australian women in 2024 are depression (46%), Anxiety and Generalised Anxiety Disorder (41%) & Body image issues (29%).
With these statistics in mind, maybe a Kit Kat break would be something to look forward to for those depressed. A Kit Kat break for the those feeling anxious so they can tackle the thing that's making them anxious. And for those with body image issues, we all have that, some days are better than others, but you too need the Kit Kat break so you can appreciate what your body does for you every day. It's not about eating the Kit Kat, its the break the Kit Kat represents & the break you need to give yourself guilt free.
