The Beaute Within – Week 4: The Lion – Brave Enough to Begin

If I only had the nerve…

We all know that feeling. The sweaty palms, the racing mind, the excuses we dress up as logic. The Lion’s story hits close to home because he wasn’t missing courage; he just didn’t recognise his own.

This week I was chatting with another small-business owner. She’d been told to “go live” to show off her new range on socials but was terrified. I told her what I tell so many others: you’ve got this! Just start small, be yourself, and remember no one expects perfection.

It’s funny how easily we see courage in others but forget to recognise it in ourselves.

Because courage isn’t about not being scared. It’s about feeling the fear and finding a way through it anyway. Sometimes it’s signing up for that event, asking that ‘stupid’ question, saying “not this year,” and sometimes it’s giving yourself grace to plan differently next time.

It was grace I took this weekend, with Saturday being our local Market Day. It’s a day where the main street is blocked off and local stallholders take a front and central stage amongst the bricks and mortar businesses. The bitumen explodes with portable tents, colour, laughter, happy people and treats for everyone. It’s full of creative flair, unique treasures but … it’s a big commitment. One I didn’t have in me this year. Yes, full of doubt, lacking the confidence, but with a busy household currently, the decision to not attend sits Ok with me for now. Family comes first.

This weekend also marked the final SeneGence Leaders Conference in Brisbane. I’d love to be there, ranked up, surrounded by peers. But chasing titles has never felt right if it means others have to stretch beyond their comfort or integrity to get me there. That’s not courage, that’s compliance. And I’ve outgrown that kind of fear.

So instead, I’m showing up right here; writing, creating, connecting, and giving myself credit for the quieter kind of bravery.

The Look:

Golden warmth and gentle glow, courage without the roar.
Try Iced Coffee Shimmer ShadowSense, Radiant Gold Glitter ShadowSense, and for the lips Cold Brew LipSense finished with Honey Latte Gloss.

The Craft:

Golden fabrics, warm tones, textures that feel like sunshine.
This week’s buttons are a little brighter and happier, a reminder that courage can be soft, steady, and still shine.

Maybe courage, like oxygen, bubbles up from within. A gentle fizz reminding us we’re still alive and ready to try again.

Maybe you’ve got a goal that scares you, or a dream you’ve tucked away for later. Either way, you’re still brave because courage isn’t about roaring loud; it’s about beginning again, even when your heart’s still racing. And speaking of racing, our V8 drivers putting themselves behind the wheel this weekend on the Gold Coast. That’s courageous considering the fear that concrete jungle holds.
